When we refer to anti-aging injections, we are referring to the well-known and effective Botox injections. Botox injections offer a quick and easy solution to unwanted lines and wrinkles on the forehead, in between the eyebrows (frown lines) and around your eyes (crows feet).
Botox is the trade name of Botulinum Toxin A . Botox is often used for three main purposes: muscle spasm control, severe underarm sweating, and cosmetic improvement. At Ness Aesthetics, we use Botox for it’s miraculous results as an age reversal treatment.
Anti-aging injections
When we smile, frown, squint or do any kind of facial expression, the muscles in our faces contract. Combine this with environmental and lifestyle factors, it results in permanent lines and wrinkles as we age.
Unfortunately, we can’t completely prevent wrinkles no matter how hard we try; it’s an inevitable part of aging. However, treatments like Botox are a great option for gaining back that youthful appearance.
How does Botox work?
When we use the muscles in our face, a message is directly sent from the brain via nerves to the muscles. This message instructs the muscles to contract. Botox works by interrupting this process, leaving those muscles unable to crease the skin.
Botox is precisely injected into the muscle. Once injected, the Botox solution starts to paralyse the muscle within a few days. Once the muscle relaxes, the skin will start to smooth out and lines will be much less obvious. In addition, the skin will start to repair itself as long as the muscle remains relaxed and lines will continue to diminish.

Botox treatment areas on the face include:
- frown lines (vertical lines which form between the eyebrows)
- eyebrows, crows’ feet
- forehead lines
- Lines around the mouth and top lip, known as ‘smoker’s lines’.
Do Botox injections hurt?
The injection is quick and painless; usually lasting around 5-10 minutes and requires no antiseptic. Results are often seen within the first few days, however, they can sometimes take between 4-7 days before you can see the full effect.
Will I look ‘frozen’ or ‘fake’?

Is Botox Permanent?
As it’s not a permanent treatment, the effects will wear off over time. Therefore, it’s recommended that you repeat procedure every 3 months for effective results.

Are there any side-effects?
Side effects from Botox aren’t common. It’s considered a safe and effective treatment and is FDA approved.
Although side effects are rare, they can happen, any side effects are generally only minor and may not occur at all.
Occasionally some light bruising or redness might occur in the area of the injection but this should subside quickly.
In rare cases an allergic reaction is possible and patients should seek immediate medical attention if symptoms of and allergic reaction occur. These may include difficulty breathing, swelling and a rash. As with any drug, there are side effects that can occur and this list is not exhaustive. During your consultation, our doctor will discuss all possible side-effects.
Side effects are rare, but there is always associated risks of any treatment or procedure, although many patients have Botox on their lunch hour and return to work immediately afterwards! The effects on the muscles become apparent within a few hours, however the main effects will appear after about a week.
Aftercare
- Do not rub or massage the treated areas for 24 hours after treatment
- Do not apply make-up for 4 hours following treatment
- Avoid alcohol, aspirin and ibuprofen for 24 hours, which can increase the risk of bruising and swelling
- Avoid lying flat or bending down excessively
- Avoid any tiring physical exercise and do not take a sauna the same day
