Fact, Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP isn’t just for your skin. Have you heard of PRP for hair treatment?
Loved by A-list celebrities, including Kourtney Kardashian, PRP is one of the most popular non-surgical treatments on the market today. It works by using the body’s natural renewal process to stimulate collagen production within the skin and trigger a process of healing within the body.
Now, the process of PRP can sound a little scary. It involves extracting one’s own blood and separating the nutrient-rich platelets using a centrifuge – a machine that spins rapidly to split the different components of the blood.
What can PRP be used to treat?
In skin care, PRP is a very popular rejuvenation treatment to address uneven skin tone, combat the signs of ageing, reduce acne scars, and increase volume and plumpness for a more youthful appearance.
However, PRP is a highly effective treatment in haircare. It works by stimulating the scalp, to remedy premature hair loss and hair thinning.
It is most commonly used to treat male/female pattern baldness, alopecia, and hormonal deficiencies that cause hair loss, but it is also highly effective in encouraging ha rapid hair growth in areas such as the beard, the eyebrows, and the pubic area.
PRP for hair treatment involves infusing struggling hair follicles with PRP, and a complex skin booster to encourage healthy hair growth. Through careful follicle stimulation, PRP treatments can improve the appearance of hair fullness, thickness, and volume.
Here at Ness Aesthetics, we combine PRP treatment with our Fillmed Skin Booster which contains Hyaluronic Acid to help stimulate collagen production and help boost overall hair health.
What happens during a PRP treatment?
The first step to PRP treatment for hair is extraction. Your clinician will start by drawing some of your blood, in the same way, you would undergo a blood test.
Using a special device known as a centrifuge, the blood is rapidly spun to split all of the different components, including the platelet-rich plasma.
Using a micro-needling device, your PRP is then carefully injected into the scalp to stimulate weaker skin cells beneath the surface and encourage them to produce new hair.
The treatment should take no longer than one-hour, minimal downtime is required, and there is also no risk of an allergic reaction, because the treatment uses a natural substance from your own body, making PRP for hair treatment, one of the safest procedures around.
For best results, you will be required to undergo regular a number of treatments, which will be discussed with you during your initial consultation.
