Russian lip fillers simply refer to a specific technique used to accentuate the cupid’s bow, to achieve an almost doll-like appearance to the lips.

How are Russian Lips Different?

The Russian Lip fillers technique originated in Russia and has rapidly become one of the most performed techniques in Hollywood.

Russian lip fillers are designed to create a heart shape around the cupid’s bow. This is achieved by injecting additional dermal filler to the centre of the lips, whilst the sides remain in line with the face.

To achieve Russian lips, we adopt a slightly different technique than standard lip treatments. Usually, lip fillers are administered horizontally into the lips to add volume throughout. With Russian lip fillers, we use a smaller syringe and inject the filler vertically, paying special attention to the centre. Small amounts of additional filler are then spread evenly throughout the rest of the lip to achieve your desired shape.

Here at Ness Aesthetics, we seek only to enhance your natural beauty. We work with the natural dimensions of your face, and only add volume to areas needed for a more natural look.

Are there any side effects?

With Russian lip fillers, the side effects are the same as standard lip fillers. Following your treatment, you may have slight swelling, tenderness, and bruising around the injection sites.

This should gradually ease itself after a couple of days, but there are some precautions we recommend you follow to minimise the risk of any complications, including massaging your lips. Excessive touching of the lips may result in filler not settling correctly, particularly if this is your first treatment. You can use paracetamol to help ease any discomfort.

We also recommend you:

Avoid heavy exercise – Avoid going to the gym or doing any strenuous exercise for around 48 hours following your treatment.

Avoid extreme heat – Try to avoid extreme temperatures, including direct sunlight and saunas.

Avoid make-up and skincare – Try not to use any makeup or skincare around your lips for at least 24 hours to minimise the risk of infection.

Stay hydrated – Try to drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol for around 24 hours.

Any side effects should ease themselves after a few days, but if you have any concerns, we are on hand to help.

Overall, Russian lip fillers should last between 6 months to a year before they start to wear off.
